The school aims at preparing students and young researchers interested by structural biology or more generally biology at the molecular level, to integrated new coming methods or strategies for their future research. The school intends to attract students initially trained in biology, but also some trained in physics. General lectures on cell biology will help participants trained in other disciplines (physics, chemistry) or more familiar with biology at the molecular level. The new coming strategies based on interdisciplinary approaches (biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics) aim at understanding the relation between the regulation of gene expression leading to structural assemblies of proteins and their dynamical properties, the forces that dictate protein function and activity, the properties of cells and their interactions in the formation of tissues and organisms. Bridging data coming from different types of approaches and providing information on various scales (space and time) is also far from being well established. The aim of the course is to teach these new topics.
